The former UNC Basketball point guard teams up with Zenni Optical to make a donation to not only schools in the Chicago area, but to his hometown area as well.

Zenni Optical is the official eyewear partner of the Chicago Bulls. The company is also the team’s current jersey sponsor, and the two often team up for promotions, especially with regards to helping out the local community.

As some of his former teammates already serve as ambassadors for the brand, former UNC Basketball standout Coby White has joined in on the action.

White and Zenni have partnered to donate 3,500 pairs of “Blokz” glasses to more than 50 after school programs. These donations will be made to various Chicago after school programs as well as to teachers and students of Eastern Wayne Middle School in Goldsboro, N.C., White’s former middle school.

“Blokz” glasses specialize in blocking blue lights that emanate off computer screens. They are built to help protect students and teachers’ eyes as their computer screen time is greatly increased due to the current online learning format that so many school districts are following.

Not only is White determined to continue giving back to the Chicago community, but is also dedicated to continue helping his hometown as well. As he is set to enter his second season in the NBA, it is nice to see White making an impact on his new “hometown” in Chicago as well as his original hometown.
