One of the best remaining UNC Basketball recruiting targets could be announcing his decision very soon. Where do the Tar Heels stand?

Roy Williams and his UNC Basketball staff continue to push for a good 2021 recruiting class as they are coming off a Top 2 class in 2020.

The Tar Heels still have a few big targets left on their 2021 recruiting board but as players cut their lists, UNC’s options are starting to dwindle.

Among the options still left for North Carolina is five-star small forward Harrison Ingram. The Texas native has been a target for UNC for months now as Williams and him staff have pursued him, including watching him a few times.

Ingram cut his list down to six programs at the start of August with UNC, Stanford, Purdue, Michigan, Howard and Harvard. But it appears as if he could soon be close to making his decision.

Per 247 Sports and transcribed by our friends over at GBM Wolverine, it shouldn’t be too much longer for Ingram’s decision as the five-star appears to be close. Brian Snow wrote this on the situation from Monday morning:

"We definitely won’t have to wait too much longer for a decision out of five-star Harrison Ingram. The versatile and skilled forward hasn’t officially set his announcement date, but it should be happening this week."

It’s tough to tell where Ingram is leaning although a few different reports have had Stanford as the leader with Purdue really close behind. The Tar Heels appear to have been involved as well and at one time early on they appeared to be the favorites. Then there is Michigan, a dark horse to land Ingram in this race.

If I had to bet now, I think Ingram ends up at Stanford and if not there then Michigan. Without getting Ingram on campus during this recruiting dead period, it may have hurt the Tar Heels’ chances in this race.
