UNC Basketball recruiting target Harrison Ingram updates his recruitment with his Top 6 schools including the Tar Heels on Saturday

The UNC Basketball program has been in pursuit of five-star small forward Harrison Ingram for months now as they hope to add a big recruit to their 2021 class.

With four-star power forward Dontrez Styles already committed and UNC coming off a Top 2 class in 2020, landing a big five-star recruit would be huge for Roy Williams and his staff. On Saturday, the program took a step forward in that process.

Ingram officially updated his recruitment on Saturday by releasing his Final 6 schools as he will focus on these programs moving forward. Included in Ingram’s six are: North Carolina, Stanford, Purdue, Michigan, Harvard, and Howard:

While the good news is that UNC made the cut, their Blue Blood rival Duke did not. Over the past few weeks there has been speculation that Duke could really change this recruitment by simply offering Ingram. The five-star has called Duke his “Dream School” and many believed they would land in his Top 6.

But they are not in, and instead Ingram has gone with these six schools for now. There is still a chance Duke does enter the race as it would take just a simple offer.

As for where his recruitment stands now, it’s hard to say UNC is the favorite just yet. There is a general thought that Stanford and Purdue are battling it out as the top two teams but don’t count out the Tar Heels or Michigan just yet. Both programs could make big strides especially if they can get him on campus for a visit before he commits.

Ingram is ranked No. 13 overall, No. 4 small forward and the No. 1 player in the state of Texas per 247 Sports.

Next. This 5-star recruit isn't considering UNC. dark
