Tomari and Tomon Fox

Overall, let’s give the Tar Heels defense a lot of credit in this game.

There were many instances where the Tar Heels defense could’ve given up scores. However, the unit buckled down and did a really nice job of limiting the Syracuse offense.

One major reason the team’s defense was so successful was the pressure they created in the backfield. The Tar Heels defense created havoc for Syracuse quarterback Tommy DeVito as they tallied seven total sacks throughout the ballgame.

Of those seven sacks, three came from the duo of Tomari and Tomon Fox.

The Fox brothers were very active in this one, and helped the Tar Heels defense hold the Orange offense to just six total points.

Tomon (the eldest of the two brothers) had three total tackles (two solo) and one sack. Tomari tallied two sacks of his own and also had three total tackles along with a quarterback hit.

In total, the Fox brothers accounted for six total tackles (four solo), three sacks and a quarterback hit. Not a bad day at the office for the duo!

Both brothers earn early-season helmet stickers. If they keep causing havoc in the backfield, it won’t be the last time they earn stickers this season.
