Where does the UNC basketball program stand with 5-star combo guard Skyy Clark? Recruiting analysts weight in, and predict what school he’ll commit to.

The Skyy Clark recruitment has been one of the most fascinating in the nation, and it remains to be seen where the talented class of 2022 prospect will end up.

A 5-star combo guard from Brentwood, Tennessee, Clark announced a list of four finalists on Thursday that includes Kentucky, Memphis, North Carolina and UCLA. Almost all of the recent buzz has surrounded the Wildcats and Tar Heels, with just about everyone believing that it’s one of those two schools that he’ll ultimately commit to.

Recent predictions from a trio of national recruiting analysts reflects that, as Rivals’ Eric Bossi, Corey Evans and Dan McDonald voiced their opinions on Clark and his upcoming decision.

"“It is utter craziness with Clark,” Bossi writes. “Here you have arguably one of the best point guards in the country. He has brought in national suitors into his recruitment, has family in various pockets of America, and could also reclassify into the 2021 class if the college pairing is right. While practically everyone else in America sees Clark as a done deal for Kentucky, I have backed off such a prediction for a week now and feel as if the five-star is headed to North Carolina. Now, a whole lot can change between now and commitment day which could take place later this month, but I like UNC’s chances and while a move into the 2021 class isn’t a sure-fire bet, I fail to see him not making the move in due time.”"

Neither Bossi nor McDonald picked the Tar Heels, however. Both of them consider Kentucky to be the prohibitive favorite in Clark’s recruitment, and unlike Bossi, they’ve stuck with their initial picks. On the other hand, both of them agreed that a North Carolina commitment isn’t unthinkable. In fact, Bossi actually favors the Tar Heels if Clark reclassifies to the class of 2021. And McDonald stated that he wouldn’t be shocked if North Carolina makes things interesting in the eleventh hour.

A rising senior at Brentwood Academy, Clark is a good ball handler, distributor and shooter. He can knock down shots from long-range, or dish to an open teammate for an easy score. He’s good at beating his defender off the dribble, or slashing inside the arc for a mid-range basket. He can drive the lane through traffic, and finish with a bucket inside the paint. His basketball I.Q. is high, and his court vision is terrific. He’s got great athleticism and good size for his position that help him play strong, tenacious defense, and create mismatches for his opponent on both ends of the floor.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Clark is ranked 15th in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite for 2022. He’s third among combo guards in the class, and the No. 2 prospect from the state of Tennessee.
