The rising sophomore will represent the UNC Basketball program and the ACC as part of the NABC Player Development Coalition.

On Monday morning, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced that they have created the Player Development Coalition.

The NABC Player Development Coalition was designed to create a platform for Division 1 men’s basketball players to provide feedback or voice their concerns over various college basketball issues. The coalition is scheduled to meet on a quarterly basis, and will have the opportunity to address not only the NABC Board of Directors, but the NCAA committees as well. The members of the newly-founded committee will also be provided with experiences in both professional and personal development.

Craig Robinson, the NABC Executive Director, released the following statement regarding the Player Development Coalition:

"“Our priority as coaches is to support student-athlete development both on and off the court,” said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. “As the NABC continues its advocacy and policy work on issues impacting our game, it’s vital that input from student-athletes be central to those efforts. Whether it’s NIL, transfer parameters, social justice, COVID-19 or a host of other important topics currently impacting college basketball, we will make sure student-athletes’ voices are heard. We will also structure the Player Development Coalition to be an impactful experience that benefits these young men well beyond their college years.”"

Out of the 11 student-athletes chosen, three are current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. One of those players is a current Tar Heels basketball standout.

Armando Bacot will represent the Tar Heels as part of the Player Development Coalition. The Brandenton, Florida native joins Wendell Moore (Duke) and Bourama Sidibe (Syracuse) as the representatives from the ACC on the committee.

This is a great opportunity for the rising sophomore, as he will have the opportunity to serve as a leader in the Division I men’s basketball community. Bacot, along with the other members, will have their chance to voice their opinions on some of issues and topics that surround college basketball, and will look to make a positive impact on the future of the sport.

Here is the list of the members of the initial NABC Player Development Coalition:
