The UNC Women’s Basketball program has landed another big commitment for their 2021 recruiting class giving them 4 recruits

UNC Basketball Women’s head coach Courtney Banghart is putting together something special in just her second year on the job. Following a season where the team showed some promise in terms of their roster before it was cut short, Banghart and her staff have done a great job on the recruiting trail over the past few months.

The Tar Heels have landed commitments from Top 100 players Teonni Key, Destiny Adams and Morasha Wiggins, plus landed graduate transfer and former Tar Heel Stephanie Watts. But on Sunday, they landed their best player in the 2021 class yet.

Five-star point guard Kayla McPherson verbally committed to the Tar Heels on Sunday morning, becoming the fourth player to pick the program in the 2021 recruiting class:

McPherson is the fourth five-star recruit for UNC’s 2021 class a HUGE get for Banghart and her staff.

The 5-foot-7 point guard out of Hull, Georgia picked the Tar Heels over finalists N.C. State, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, and Arizona. She’s ranked No. 15 overall and the No. 3 point guard in the recruiting class per ESPN and has a grade of 98.  McPherson is also the highest-ranked recruit to commit to the Tar Heels in Barnhart’s tenure.

With this recruiting haul, the future of the program is bright. They should take another step forward next season in terms of being better and potentially making the NCAA Tournament but the stars could really align starting with that 2021-22 season.
