A big five-star recruiting target for the UNC Basketball program talks about his recruitment and where he stands here in August

With just one commitment in the 2021 recruiting class, the UNC Basketball program is hoping to land some big recruits down the line. Roy Williams and his staff have eight offers out to prospects in that class with a bunch to five-star players.

One player that the Tar Heels have been after is five-star combo guard Hunter Sallis out of Nebraska.

Sallis landed an offer from the Tar Heels a few months back and since then, his recruitment has been a bit quiet. But it sounds like that will change soon.

The guard recently caught up with Jake Weingarten of StockRiser’s to break down his recruitment and provide an update. He told Weingarten that there are still a number of programs involved in his recruitment but he will plan to cut his list sooner than later:

"For that reason, he is currently being pursued by nearly 20+ programs and tells Stockrisers.com that he will cut that down into a list ‘sooner than later’“Really the blue blood programs that have recruited me are still involved. The schools around the area like Creighton, Nebraska, Iowa State, Then Florida, Alabama, Oregon, Louisville, UConn, and more,” Sallis said on who’s involved."

Sallis has a total of 23 offers in his recruitment so far including from some Blue Blood programs like UNC and Kansas. He’s ranked as the No. 19 overall player, No. 2 combo guard and No. 1 player in the state of Nebraska by 247 Sports.

In addition to when he wants to cut his list, Sallis told Weingarten that he recently met with UNC over Zoom last week. He also had calls with Kansas, Iowa State, Creighton, Alabama, Oregon and Arkansas. Sallis would like to try to take visits when the recruiting dead period is over but that may not be for at least a few more months.
