Roy Williams and the UNC basketball program have extended their latest scholarship offer to a 5-star guard in the class of 2021.

After securing what will likely be their final commitment of the 2020 class on Monday morning — a pledge from 4-star shooting guard Kerwin Walton — Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels went right back to work on the class of 2021.

The Hall-of-Fame head coach extended a scholarship offer to Hunter Sallis, a 6-foot-4, 165-pound combo guard out of Millard North High School in Omaha, Nebraska. Sallis is a 4-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, ranked fourth among players at his position. Rivals, on the other hand, pegs Sallis as a 5-star talent ranked among the top 20 players in the nation. One thing that both sites can agree upon, however, is that Sallis is the No. 1 prospect in the state of Nebraska.

Regardless of ranking or recruiting outlet, though, Sallis is a tremendous basketball player with scholarship offers from nearly 20 schools. Among them are Creighton, Florida, Gonzaga, Kansas, Louisville, Ohio State, Oregon and UCLA. For the Tar Heels, it was their eighth scholarship offer to a prospect in the 2021 class, and third to a back court player.

Sallis is a shifty, athletic guard with good ball-handling skills and a nice crossover. He’s got a quick first step, and gets to the goal with speed and efficiency. He drives the lane well in traffic and through contact, and can easily finish above the rim. He scores at all three levels, rebounds well for his position and plays pesky, tenacious defense.

There’s absolutely no indication where Sallis will end up at this point, and no telling how many offers he’ll have in his pocket before making a decision. It’s also likely that he’ll be a consensus 5-star prospect before his recruitment is all said and done.
