The three-star offensive lineman from Clemmons, North Carolina flipped his commitment back to SEC powerhouse Georgia.

Jared Wilson’s recruitment process has been a bit of a roller coaster.

The 6-foot-4, 325-pound offensive lineman originally committed to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. However, that commitment didn’t last.

Wilson decided that Georgia wasn’t the place for him, and decommitted. Shortly after, Wilson offered a verbal pledge to North Carolina, as the in-state product decided to stay home for his collegiate career.

At that point, it appeared as if Mack Brown and company had landed another talented prospect to add to their already strong 2021 recruiting class. Wilson, who 247Sports has ranked as the No. 22-ranked offensive guard in the country, would definitely bolster the team’s protection for their  star-studded group of signal callers.

However, Wilson has changed his mind once again, flipping his commitment back to the SEC.

On social media, Wilson announced his decommitment from North Carolina. In the same tweet, he stated that he is again committing to the program that he decommitted from just a few months prior.

Although he pursued other opportunities, Smart and the Georgia staff never gave up in their chase for the talented offensive lineman. Their relentless pursuit paid off, as they were able to persuade Wilson to pledge to the program for a second time.

In an interview with 247Sports, Wilson talked about his decision to flip back to Georgia, and inform the Tar Heels that he wouldn’t be coming to Chapel Hill next season.

"“They did a very, very good job, it was really hard to tell them no,” he said. ”That conversation was hard because it is home, they have a special class going, at the end of the day it was about that first love I had at Georgia.”"

Of course, losing a top in-state prospect is never ideal. However, the Tar Heels still have plenty of time to add more talent to the 2021 recruiting class. And don’t worry Tar Heel fans. Mack Brown and company aren’t done on the recruiting trail just yet.
