A UNC Basketball recruiting target in the 2021 class is now ranked in the Top 25, moving up in the latest 247 Sports rankings

While we are still in a dead recruiting period for college sports, the focus is on the 2021 recruiting class for college basketball.

And for the North Carolina Tar Heels, they are hoping it’s a big one.

North Carolina turned in a Top 3 class for the 2020 cycle and it’s coming at a much-needed time for the program. Following a disappointing 14-19 season, the Tar Heels are hoping their 2020 class can save the day next season. But more importantly, they are hoping to build on that with a good 2021 class.

Among the targets that have a scholarship from North Carolina is four-star combo guard Hunter Sallis.

The Tar Heels officially offered Sallis back in late April, making him a big target on their recruiting board. The 6-foot-3, 165-pound guard is the best player in the state of Nebraska and would be a big recruiting win for Roy Williams and his staff in the Midwest.

247 Sports released their updated rankings on Wednesday and Sallis moved into the Top 25 in the recruiting rankings a good sign for his future stock. He climbed up one spot from No. 26 to No. 25 and still remains a four-star guard.

While 247 Sports has him in the Top 25, his composite ranking is a bit higher at No. 19. The composite rankings take the average ranking from major recruiting sites and ranks each player.

Sallis currently has a total of 20 offers, including from North Carolina, Gonzaga, Nebraska, Kansas, Louisville and UCLA among others. He’s taken visits to both Gonzaga and Nebraska before this dead period but could eventually visit Chapel Hill when he’s permitted.

The Tar Heels have a legit shot to land Sallis but they are going to have to at least get him on campus and this recruitment doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon.

Next. Should the Tar Heels be pushing for this five-star wing?. dark
