The latest player to receive an offer from the UNC Basketball program spoke out about that and what are in his future plans

After landing a commitment on Monday morning from four-star guard Kerwin Walton, the North Carolina Tar Heels have wrapped up their 2020 recruiting class. Now, they are shifting that focus to the 2021 class where they have a total of seven offers out and one commit.

The latest player to receive an offer hails from Nebraska as four-star guard Hunter Sallis announced he received an offer on Monday night. The offer actually came a few weeks back but Sallis didn’t announce it until he got off a virtual call with assistant Hubert Davis.

The point guard is ranked No. 30 overall in the 247 Sports recruiting class and has climbed the rankings with an impressive junior season.

By doing that, he’s picked up some big offers including from UNC, UCLA, Memphis, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee among others. But getting an offer from the Tar Heels might change things in his recruitment. Following that offer, Sallis spoke with Omaha.com about what it was like to be the first Nebraska five-star recruit (per Rivals) to earn an offer from North Carolina.

"“I was surprised because I talked to (Williams) about two weeks ago and he said I was only one of few of the players that they have offered in the class,” Sallis said. “He watched a handful of game films, not just highlights. He said I was really athletic and can shoot. With my length and height, he said I could make an impact for them.”"

Williams and his staff have identified Sallis as a top priority target and hope they can pluck him out of the Midwest.

The recruit has yet to cut down his list of schools but he did tell Omaha.com that he spoke with his father and they will start to narrow things down in the next few weeks or a month. There’s a good chance the Tar Heels will be on that list when he cuts it.
