A UNC Basketball target in the 2021 class makes a small update to his recruitment during this COVID-19 pandemic, revealing when he will cut his list

The NCAA is in a mandatory quiet period for recruiting which has had a big impact for basketball and football programs across the country.

But even during the this quiet period, there has still been some recruiting news for the North Carolina basketball program. Head coach Roy Williams called it an “uncharted recruiting landscape” when he met the media on Tuesday as it can be difficult to recruit during this time.

Over the weekend five-star UNC target Paolo Banchero made an update to his recruitment, adding the Arizona Wildcats to his final teams list after landing an offer. The Wildcats are now the 10th team on Banchero’s list as he’s one of the more sought-after recruits in the country.

UNC is battling a few blue bloods in the recruitment for Banchero and hosted the recruit on campus during Late Night With Roy in 2019.  Now, Banchero has one again updated his recruitment but this time to his timeline.

According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, Banchero revealed that he’s still in contact with the schools on his list despite the COVID-19 situation. He also provided an update on when he will trim his list:

"As far as next steps, he plans on cutting his list to five schools before his high school season starts, beyond that he doesn’t have any idea on a plan."

There is still a long way to go until his season starts in the Fall of 2020 but at least we have some sort of timeline.

Banchero is not only keeping in contact with the teams on his list but he also has a virtual meeting scheduled with Duke this week. It’s the only virtual call that we know of right now but we imagine more could happen in the future during this quiet period, possibly with UNC. That is something we will monitor as the days go on.
