UNC Basketball: Tar Heels 2021 target adds another team to list of finalists

Another big program has offered a North Carolina Tar Heels’ recruiting target in the 2021 class over the weekend and they have been added to his list of finalists

The North Carolina Tar Heels have yet to earn a commitment in the 2021 recruiting class despite having a healthy number of offers out to recruits. UNC has shown interest in some of the top recruits in that 2021 class as they hope to build on what is an impressive 2020 class coming in this year.

One of those top recruits is forward Paolo Banchero.

The five-star recruit out of Seattle, Washington wrapped up his junior year at O Dea High School and is ranked No. 1 in his state and his position and No. 4 overall per 247 Sports. He’s one of the most sought-after prospects in the class, earning a total of 17 offers including from some blue blood programs. He’s been a target of North Carolina for months now and officially visited Chapel Hill for Late Night With Roy in October.

Banchero also dropped his list of finalists which included Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, Tennessee, Georgetown, Baylor, Memphis, Washington and Gonzaga. But he has now added another program to that list.

The recruit announced on Saturday night that the Arizona Wildcats have been added to his final list of schools after they officially offered him:

The Tar Heels have some tough competition to go up against if they want to land the talented forward out of the Pacific Northwest. Banchero has taken five official visits so far and will have some more unofficial visits on the way.

As it stands now, in-state Washington has all eight Crystal Ball predictions on 247 Sports in Banchero’s recruitment.
