The UNC Football program has made the cut for a three-star wide receiver in the 2021 recruiting class on Sunday morning

North Carolina’s football team has done well with recruiting over the past year or so under Mack Brown and the 2021 class has been no different.

All six of UNC’s commits for 2021 are from the state of North Carolina and they are still in the running for two of the top players. On Saturday, UNC made the cut for four-star defensive end Keeshawn Silver’s Top 7 and now early Sunday morning they landed on another list.

Three-star wide receiver J.J. Jones released his updated teams list, cutting it down to 14 teams around midnight Saturday/early Sunday morning. Among the teams that made the cut was North Carolina:

The South Carolina native named the Tar Heels, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Coastal Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia, Tennessee, Penn State, Duke and Wake Forest on his updated list.

Jones is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver out of Myrtle Beach and is ranked No. 502 overall, No. 82 at his position and the No. 5 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 22 offers in his recruitment and is expected to trim his list some more and take visits  before making a final decision.

UNC will soon have a need at wide receiver with Dazz Newsome and Beau Corrales entering their senior seasons in 2020. Adding a few wide receivers in the 2021 class could be of some help for the offense.
