The UNC Football program made the Top 7 for an important 2021 in-state recruit as he provided an update to his recruitment on Saturday

The North Carolina 2021 football recruiting class is off to a good start with six commitments so far as Mack Brown enters his second season as head coach.

All six of UNC’s commits for 2021 are from the state of North Carolina, something Brown and his staff have put an emphasis on since returning. It’s still early in the recruiting cycle for 2021 as the Tar Heels are hoping to add even more and bring in a Top 10 class this year.

They can take a big step forward in that by landing some of the top players in the state including one who was just ranked as a Top 10 recruit by ESPN.

Defensive end Keeshawn Silver is one of the top players in the state of North Carolina and the 2021 recruiting class. On Saturday, Silver made a big update to his recruitment by cutting his list down to just 7 teams. Here is what Silver posted on Twitter:

Five SEC schools, one Pac 12 school and one ACC school were represented on the Top 7 list that Silver put out and included among them were the Tar Heels. Joining the Tar Heels in aking the cut are Florida, LSU, Auburn, Oregon, Georgia and Alabama.

That’s good news for UNC but they have some work to do. Those are some of the top programs in the country over the past 5-10 years and four of them have played in the College Football Playoff.

Silver is ranked as a five-star recruit on ESPN but has four-star status and is ranked No. 107 on the 247 Sports’ Composite rankings. Still, landing him would be a big boost for UNC’s 2021 class that is currently No. 11 overall.
