The UNC Football program made the cut for this in-state recruits Top 15 which was announced early Friday morning

Mack Brown and his coaching staff at North Carolina have done well in the three recruiting classes since he returned, including the 2021 one which is still in progress.

They turned in a Top 20 class in 2020 and that was coming off a turnaround season in Chapel Hill where UNC went 7-6 and won a bowl game. With 2021 off to a great start, there’s been a common theme among the classes: In-state recruiting.

The staff has done a good job of landing in-state talent including the top player in the state for 2020, Desmond Evans. The 2021 class currently has six players committed and all six of those players are from the state of North Carolina.

They soon could be adding another, or at least they are in the running.

Four-star defensive end Keeshawn Silver made an update to his recruitment early (midnight) on Friday, narrowing down his list of 31 offers to 15 finalists. The Rocky Mount, North Carolina standout tweeted his 15 teams which included the Tar Heels:

Silver is one of the top players in the 2021 class per 247 Sports, ranking No. 33 nationally and No. 2 in the state of North Carolina in Wednesday’s updated rankings. While there is a long way to go in the recruitment, UNC has all three Crystal Ball predictions for Silver at the moment.

His recruitment is still far from over and if UNC does want to land this talented defensive end, they are going to have to beat out some top programs like Florida, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Penn State and Georgia among others. Landing Silver would be another big in-state recruiting win for Brown and just the latest addition to the 2021 class.
