Continued success for Roy Williams on the recruiting trail

Although the current group of Tar Heels has been struggling, the team is still loaded with highly ranked players. The fits haven’t been seamless and the injuries have built up, yet these are still the guys that Roy Williams wanted to bring in.

Cole Anthony and Armando Bacot headline the current freshman class, as they are both 5-stars players and top-20 recruits in the ESPN 100 for the 2019 class. And trailing not too far behind is Anthony Harris, who’s a 4-star athlete.

For the 2020 recruiting class, the Tar Heels have three of the top 20 players in the ESPN 100 rankings. The leader of the class is 5-star Day’Ron Sharpe, but there are also two more 5-stars coming in with him on top of two other 4-stars that round out the loaded 2020 class.

Roy Williams’ ability as a recruiter has always been a success story between the brand he’s created for himself and the power that UNC holds. Don’t expect any traction in the recruiting world to be lost throughout this decade when it comes to the North Carolina basketball program, even if the Roy Williams ship sails in this time period, UNC always reloads instead of rebuilding.
