Committed (1)

Day’Ron Sharpe (6/17/2018)

The first commitment in the 2020 class for the Tar Heels came on Father’s Day in 2018 when then four-star center Day’Ron Sharpe offered his verbal to UNC. Sharpe had just finished up an unofficial visit weekend in Chapel Hill and the Tar Heels won him over.

The recruit wasted no time offering his commitment to UNC and has been solid ever since. Over that year and a month, Sharpe has improved a lot and has climbed up the recruiting rankings, earning that five star status.  He was very impressive in the Spring and Summer AAU circuits, being called a standout by recruiting analysts at a few events.

But the biggest news regarding Sharpe this Summer came in a change of school.

After playing his first three seasons of high school basketball at South Central, Sharpe announced that he will play his senior year at Montverde Academy in Florida. He joins a stacked roster on a team that is nationally-known for their basketball.

With Sharpe playing at Montverde, it also gives him the chance to be noticed more on the national stage. Montverde will be featured a few times on national television this upcoming season and Sharpe has the chance to impress even more and possibly up his recruiting ranking.
