The UNC Basketball program keeps adding to their 2019-20 schedule with an exhibition game in early November just a few days before the season starts

The 2019-20 basketball schedule will be a little different for the North Carolina Tar Heels this season as the Atlantic Coast Conference transitions to a 20-game schedule. UNC will actually open the season hosting Notre Dame in the Dean Dome on November 6th, a quick conference game to begin the year.

But before the Tar Heels take the court for games that count in the standings, they will host some exhibition games.

On Wednesday, the Winston-Salem Journal now reported that the Tar Heels will host Winston-Salem State in one of their exhibition games to begin the year on November 1.

"The CIAA and Winston-Salem State have yet to release their basketball schedules for next season, but WSSU will be playing North Carolina in an exhibition game on Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill.George Knox, the interim athletics director at WSSU, confirmed that the Rams and the Tar Heels will play, but he didn’t want any part of predicting a point spread.“I’ll let Vegas handle that,” Knox said with a laugh on Tuesday night."

The Journal Now also reported that Winston-Salem tried to schedule this game last season but it didn’t work out. Head coach Cleo Hill Jr. does have a tie to UNC as his wife, Regina, works at the university.

As for the money portion of the exhibition game, the Tar Heels will pay the Rams $25,000 to come to Chapel Hill and play the game. The two teams last met in an exhibition game in 2004 with the Tar Heels winning 113–53.

UNC will likely add another exhibition game to their schedule before beginning play by hosting the Fighting Irish in early November. You can view the full UNC basketball schedule for the 2019-20 season here.
