A look at the 2019-20 UNC Basketball schedule as it stands now including the new 20-game Atlantic Coast Conference schedule

The start of the 2019-20 college basketball season is still a ways away as the 2019 NCAA Tournament just tipped off. But it’s never too early to start looking ahead, at least opponents-wise for the North Carolina Tar Heels.

In the 2018-19 season, UNC played a very tough non-conference schedule including games against Gonzaga, Kentucky, on the road at Wofford and Michigan, as well as facing Texas and UCLA in the Las Vegas Invitational.

The Tar Heels managed to go 10-3 in their non-conference schedule and finished 27-6 going into the NCAA Tournament.

We don’t have the full 2019-20 schedule as of yet, as games are still being announced but we do know the dates and opponents of some games. The biggest change comes in the Atlantic Coast Conference, where they will start conference play earlier than usual due to the move to a 20-game schedule.

With that, let’s take a look at the current 2019-20 UNC Basketball schedule. (Updated 3/21)

With the new 20-game ACC schedule, UNC will now play four teams both at home and on the road each year. They will take on Duke and NC State every year on the road and at home, plus two more teams that will rotate each year.

The new schedule also cuts some non-conference games off of the Tar Heels schedule. As it stands right now, UNC has 24 games scheduled including conference play, so there is room to add a few more games.
