UNC Basketball head coach Roy Williams was back on the recruiting trail Saturday in Dallas as he took in the adidas gauntlet circuit
University of North Carolina head coach Roy Williams is making the early rounds on the Spring AAU circuit. On Saturday, we told you where Williams was at on Friday night watching a 2020 five star guard who the Tar Heels have shown significant interest in.
Now Williams was back on the recruiting trail Saturday in Dallas to watch a few different prospects compete. With the adidas Gauntlet event taking place in Dallas, it gave Williams the chance to watch a few future targets as well as a current verbal commitment to UNC.
One of the recruits Williams was watching on Saturday is the younger brother of former UNC forward Cameron Johnson. Donovan Johnson plays for Wildcats Select out of Pennsylvania as a four-star recruit in the 2020 class.
Williams has shown interest in Cam’s younger brother and continues to do so by watching him this past weekend:
Johnson scored 19 points in the Wildcats Select win on Saturday, as they went 1-1 on the day for the tournament. On Friday night, Johnson scored 25 points in a win doing so in front of UNC assistant Steve Robinson.
Both Pittsburgh and Ohio State have also been in Dallas to watch Robinson play this weekend. As for schools that are recruiting him the hardest, Johnson listed Arizona, Michigan, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Ohio State per PrepCircuit.com.
Williams also had the chance to watch class of 2020 UNC commit, Day’Ron Sharpe, in action on Saturday in Dallas as well.
Sharpe had two big games for Garner Road 17U on Saturday, helping his team go 2-0. In the first win, Sharpe finished with 21 points and 8 rebounds then added an 18 point, 3 rebound and 2 block game in the night session.
UNC is expected to stay in Dallas to watch the rest of the circuit on Sunday morning and afternoon.
