UNC head coach Roy Williams will visit four-star guard Boogie Ellis on Monday ahead of the recruit releasing his top 5

After missing out on Josh Green, landing another perimeter player in the 2019 class has been a priority for Roy Williams.

The University of North Carolina head coach has combo guards Boogie Ellis and Cole Anthony high on his recruiting board and hopes to land one if not both of them. Ellis and Anthony have both taken visits to UNC and the Tar Heels were recently trending for both.

But before Ellis’ visit to Duke this weekend, recruiting analyst Evan Daniels reported that Memphis and Duke appeared to be the two favorites for the four-star guard from the West Coast.

Even with the news, Williams is backing down.

Following Ellis’ visit to Duke, Williams is reportedly going to meet the guard for an in-home visit on Monday afternoon according to Daniels.

Williams has met with Ellis before in this open period, flying all the way to San Diego to meet with the recruit at his high school.

It’s clear that Williams is making Ellis a priority and is hoping to pair him with five-star center Armando Bacot and four-star point guard Jeremiah Francis who are both verbally committed to UNC.

Ellis is set to release his final five schools on Tuesday and we fully expect UNC to be on that list.

As of now, it appears that Daniels’ report of Duke being one of the favorites is true as they lead the 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictor and even picked up a prediction from recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer. There’s still some time in his recruitment and the early signing period is still a few weeks away.
