National recruiting expert says Armando Bacot will commit to North Carolina

Roy Williams and the North Carolina coaching staff went all-in on Armando Bacot a long time ago, and have put in a ton of time and effort into his recruitment in the months since.

Apparently, it’s paying off.

247Sports National Recruiting Director Evan Daniels said in a recent interview with Inside Carolina that he believes Bacot will end up at North Carolina when it’s all said and done.

"“I think UNC is the leader as we reach the home stretch of Armando Bacot’s recruitment,” Daniels said on Tuesday. “I’m not expecting his recruitment to go too much longer. This is a kid they’ve really targeted and would be a significant pull by Roy Williams and staff.”"

Bacot has announced when he will make his decision, revealing the news on Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-10, 240-pound Bacot has long been seen as a heavy UNC lean. Judging by Daniels’ assessment of Bacot’s recruitment, the five-star big man may be announcing his college decision sooner than later. And at this point, all indications are that his most likely destination is UNC.

Duke is the only program that is viewed as a realistic competitor to North Carolina for Bacot, evidenced by the latest 247Sports Crystal Ball. Though there are some recent predictions in favor of the Blue Devils, North Carolina has received all but two of the 17 votes from analysts and recruiting experts. Daniels’ UNC prediction obviously stands out, along with 247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Meyer, who picked the Tar Heels back in March.

Bacot, who will be a senior this season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, is the No. 26 overall prospect in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the seventh-ranked center in the class, and the No. 5 prospect in the state of Florida.
