Roy Williams, Tar Heels may receive official visit from 5-star wing
Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels are heavily involved with a number of top-25 prospects in the class of 2019, and appear to be nicely positioned with a handful of them.
One of those players is Keion Brooks, a five-star small forward who named North Carolina among the teams included in his top-10 list last month.
Brooks is a 6-foot-8, 185-pound senior at North Side High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana that averaged 22.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game last season. He followed that up by producing very similar statistics during the spring session of Nike EYBL play, gaining national attention in the process.
After eliminating better than half of the programs who had offered him a scholarship, Brooks named Georgetown, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Purdue, Texas and UCLA as potential landing spots next year.
Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan State are believed to be the favorites at this time, and he plans to use an official visit on each. And according to an interview with MLive’s Kyle Austin, Brooks plans to take official visits to North Carolina and UCLA, too.

Given that Brooks is looking to trim his list of schools from 10 to five next month, but that his official visits won’t likely begin until some time in the fall, it stands to reason that North Carolina would make it on to his condensed list of schools.
The addition of Brooks to North Carolina’s 2019 recruiting class would be a big deal, what with his high level of athleticism and tremendous upside. It would also help Williams and the Tar Heels absorb the potential loss of five-star small forward Wendell Moore, who is believed to be favoring Duke at this point.
Brooks is currently the No. 15 prospect in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the fourth-ranked player at his position and the No. 2 prospect in the state of Indiana.
