Five-star prospect schedules final official visit

Roy Williams began recruiting Wendell Moore a very long time ago, making the 6-foot-5, 210-pound prospect a high priority in the class of 2019.

A player of Moore’s caliber would be a huge boost for Williams’ 2019 class, which is why the Hall-of-Fame head coach has spent more than two years making visits and getting to know the talented wing.

It looks like some of that time and effort has paid off, because Moore scheduled an official visit to the University of North Carolina for the weekend of October 13th. He’ll be in attendance for the Tar Heels’ annual Late Night with Roy event to be held at the Dean Smith Center.

"“I’ve scheduled the last one to Carolina, that’s for their Late Night with Roy, Oct. 12-14,” Moore told Inside Carolina."

Moore previously scheduled trips to North Carolina State, South Carolina, Duke and Wake Forest, all of which are set to take place in the month of September. Moore’s trip to Chapel Hill will happen two weeks later, and will be his final official visit.

Moore has made a handful of trips to Chapel Hill over the last two years, and the UNC coaching staff has watched him play on a number of occasions. His mid-October trip to campus will be his last before making a decision. According to Moore, though, he’s in no rush to choose a school once his official visits have concluded.

"“I wouldn’t call it a priority (to decide right after the visits),” Moore said. “It’s just something where I want to take my time with it and I’m aiming to get to it maybe early fall, right before the high school season if it’s possible. But definitely (decide) before the high school season is over. I’m just trying to take my time with it. I want to be able to pick a school where I can fit in and be me right away.”"

Although Duke appears to be the program in the driver’s seat, the Tar Heels are still very much a factor in Moore’s recruitment. You can bet that Williams and the North Carolina coaching staff will pull out all the stops when Moore comes to town just a few months from now.

Moore is the No. 20 prospect in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the sixth-ranked small forward in the class, and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina.
