Assistants from the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program were on hand to watch a five-star shooting guard in the 2019 recruiting class

The premier recruiting event of the Summer is underway as the Nike Peach Jam has begun in South Carolina. The event began on Wednesday night and will last until Sunday as some of the top recruits in the nation are participating in front of college coaches.

But it’s not the only event going on. Both adidas and Under Armour are putting on events in the July Evaluation period.

University of North Carolina head coach, Roy Williams, has already been spotted at the Peach Jam watching some targets and recruits. But he has his staff out on the recruiting trail watching other UNC targets at events. One of those recruiting targets is a five-star shooting guard that is yet to be offered.

According to Rivals reporter Corey Evans, some UNC assistants were on hand to watch five-star guard Josh Green at the Under Armour event on Thursday.

This isn’t the first time the Tar Heels have watched the top 10 player from IMG Academy in a AAU session. They started showing interest in the Florida product during the Spring session and now that the July evaluation period is underway, they are continuing to show that interest.

Green has a total of 27 offers including from Kansas, Arizona, Oregon, UCLA and other programs but doesn’t have one from UNC to our knowledge. That is likely to change very soon and the initial thought is that an offer could come this week.

Green has really elevated his play of late and could be a big wing for the Tar Heels in their 2019 recruiting class. It’s a class that already has point guard Jeremiah Francis signed but following this season UNC will need some strong wings. Cameron Johnson and Kenny Williams will be graduating and with Nassir Little likely staying just one year, the Tar Heels will be a little thin on the perimeter.
