UNC target Matthew Hurt receives some praise for his play at the adidas Gauntlet over the weekend in Chicago

One of the top players in 2019 class had a really good weekend on the AAU circuit and is now earning some praise for it.

University of North Carolina Tar Heels’ target Matthew Hurt participated in the adidas Gauntlet with D1 Minnesota and once again he impressed. Hurt had another good session on the AAU circuit and really imposed his will on opposing teams.

The five-star prospect continues to play at a high-level and is one of the top recruits in the country for the 2019 class.

D1 Minnesota went 6-0 on the weekend in Chicago, including a one-point win over Indiana Elite on Sunday to wrap things up.

Scout’s Brian Snow was on hand to observe the event and wrote on his standouts. Hurt was listed as one of Snow’s standouts for the weekend and he had this to say about the power forward:

"Quite simply it was a dominant weekend for Hurt. The five-star prospect is one of the most skilled players in the entire country, and he put that skill on full display all event long."

You can read Snow’s full observation of Hurt’s weekend here.

As for Hurt’s recruitment, there’s nothing significant going on in the quiet period at the moment as the Tar Heels are still one of the teams pursuing him.

Head coach Roy Williams and his staff have been recruiting Hurt for months now, going head-to-head with Kansas and in-state Minnesota. But since then, both Duke and Kentucky have joined in on the race.

Hurt is also receiving serious interest from Louisville, Indiana and Memphis in his recruitment.

The Crystal Ball predictor for the Minnesota native continues to favor the Jayhawks at 50 percent, followed by Minnesota at 30 percent and UNC at 10 percent. Those have been the three consistent teams recruiting Hurt.

With new schools in the mix, things could change. We do know that the Tar Heels really like Hurt and have made him a priority as they look to add an elite five-star wing to their 2019 class that has point guard Jeremiah Francis signed.
