We have the latest on UNC Basketball recruiting targets from Hampton, Virginia and the EYBL session

The Nike EYBL season continued over this Memorial Day Weekend with the latest session taking place in Hampton.

With the coach evaluation period only lasting for two sessions, this one was closed to coaches but media were allowed in to watch recruits play. The next open coaching session comes in July as teams will begin evaluating players again.

As for the North Carolina Tar Heels, they had a few targets participating in the weekend series and they all played pretty well.

Jeremiah Francis is the lone recruit with a verbal to the Tar Heels for 2019 as the point guard committed back in Summer of 2017. Roy Williams and his UNC staff are now making a few recruits a priority.

Armando Bacot

The Virginia prospect is one of the top recruits on UNC’s 2019 board and the Tar Heels currently lead the crystal ball predictor for him. Over the weekend, Bacot was in action for Team Takeover and he performed well.

After scoring six points in Saturday’s first game, Bacot dropped 17 points in his next game against Las Vegas Prospects. Team Takeover went 2-0 on Saturday, wrapping it up with 108-96 win over Las Vegas.

On Sunday, Bacot opened the session with an 18-point, 6-rebounds game in a 96-74 win over the New York Lightning.

Bacot also picked up an offer from Pitt over the weekend.

Wendell Moore

The Tar Heels would love to pair Francis with a five-star player on the wing and Wendell Moore would fit that mold. Moore has long been a target for the Tar Heels and they were the favorites for a long time before Duke offered the North Carolina native.

Moore plays for Team CP3 which completed a 4-0 weekend at the Virginia session.

During Saturday’s session, Moore finished with 15 points in the win over the Indy Heat and then scored 21 points in the win over Pro Skills. Moore followed that up with performances of 14 points and 23 points during Sunday’s wins.

Cole Anthony

Anthony is a prospect that has climbed the recruiting rankings over the past few weeks. The class of 2019 combo guard is on UNC’s radar but the Tar Heels have yet to offer him.

After scoring 29 points in the first EYBL session of the year, Anthony has continued to raise his game.

He dropped 38 points in a win over Team Final on Sunday, highlighting his performance from the weekend. While the PSA Cardinals went 2-2 over the weekend, Anthony continued to shine.

Anthony had three 30-plus point performances over the weekend, dropping 31, 33 and 38 points for his team. In Sunday’s finale, he finished with 22 points.

The performance earned some praise from Rivals’ recruiting analyst Evan Daniels who wrote on Anthony here.
