UNC vs. N.C. State: What you need to know and a prediction
The Wolfpack has done relatively well against the run this season, and is holding opposing teams to an average of 3.5 yards per carry. That ranks 29th nationally. But Giovani Bernard will represent the Wolfpack’s most significant challenge to date. He leads the ACC in rushing (795 yards) and is averaging 7.7 yards per carry. Prediction: North Carolina 31, N.C. State 29 (Raleigh News & Observer)
UNC Basketball: Tar Heels vs Shaw Game Review
The Tar Heels faced Division II Shaw in an exhibition game at the Dean Smith Center for their only official scrimmage before the real games start on November 6th. UNC, Fedora eager for chance to end N.C. State’s dominance
The countdown began the day the ACC released its 2012 football schedule, but really it started Dec. 9, 2011, when North Carolina introduced Larry Fedora as its new head coach. How many times since then had Fedora heard about the significance of UNC’s game against N.C. State? How many times had he been reminded of the Tar Heels’ five-game losing streak? Two-Minute Drill: Big games for UNC, State, and Duke
NC State will have a challenge stopping Tar Heel RB Giovani Bernard, who leads the ACC at 132.5 ypg. On the other side of the ball, WR Bryan Underwood has scored a TD in each of State’s last seven games, while QB Mike Glennon will try to exploit a defense led by LB Kevin Reddick and DT Sylvester Williams. Forecast: UNC 27, N.C. State 24 (Wilmington Star News)

ACC Weekend Preview, Oct. 26
N.C. State at North Carolina: UNC has a very good offensive line blocking in front of perhaps the ACC’s best offensive player, Gio Bernard. N.C. State’s defensive line has quietly turned into one of the ACC’s best. It’s supposed to be plenty windy tomorrow – and maybe rainy – so I’m thinking passing won’t play quite as big a role as it might normally. Prediction: N.C. State 16, UNC 13 (ACC Sports Journal)
