The 2017 UNC Spring Football Game will take place on Saturday, giving fans the chance to see the team for the first time

You’re probably still celebrating the North Carolina Tar Heels national championship from Monday night and that’s totally fine.

While the college basketball season might be over, the football season is just around the corner.

On Saturday, UNC will host its annual Spring Game at Kenan Memorial Stadium as the team takes the field for the first time since December.

But this year, there will be a lot of new faces for Larry Fedora and his staff.

The Tar Heels lost several key contributors on offense in Mitch Trubisky, Ryan Switzer, Mack Hollins, Bug Howard, T.J. Logan and Elijah Hood. They also lost Nazair Jones and Des Lawrence on the defensive side of the ball.

While the Heels lost key players, they also brought in an impressive recruiting class and landed a few graduate transfers in the offseason.

UNC is coming a two-year run that has seen them win 19 games and make an appearance in the 2016 ACC Championship Game.

But 2017 will certainly be one of Fedora’s biggest challenges yet.

The Spring Game will give us our first look at a few position battles including quarterback, running back and even kicker. There’s still a lot to be determined before the Tar Heels opening game against Cal but this might be an early indication as to who has the advantage in those battles.

UNC’s schedule includes visits from Cal, Louisville, Notre Dame, Duke and Miami at home. They will play Virginia Tech, North Carolina State and Pitt on the road, among others.
