UNC alum Tobin Heath officially retired from professional soccer.

The former Tar Heel and USWNT stalwart leaves the game after 13 years of professional soccer that spanned the United States and Europe. Heath played in several American professional leagues that folded before latching on with the Portland Thorns of the NWSL for seven seasons, while also playing on loan at Paris Saint-Germain.

After Portland, Tobin Heath got a taste of the Women's Super League in England, playing a season at Manchester United and Arsenal respectively, before returning to the NWSL and Seattle Reign. Unfortunately, it was in Seattle that she suffered a knee injury in 2022, which effectively ended her career.

She ends her career with a stack of championships from the collegiate, club, and national team levels. At North Carolina, Heath won the ACC championship all four years, and the national championship in three of her seasons. She won two NWSL championships with the Portland Thorns. And with the USWNT, she won two World Cups and two Olympic gold medals.

Tobin Heath was as prolific as she was decorated. At UNC, she scored 19 goals in 93 games. For the USWNT, she tallied 36 goals in 181 caps. She left an indelible mark on women's soccer.

Congratulations to a truly inspiring Tar Heel!
