It's go time for North Carolina and Hubert Davis, as the ACC quarterfinals have arrived. The Tar Heels had to wait a little bit to see who they'd face off against, but No. 5 Clemson took care of business against Wake Forest on Wednesday night, setting up an intriguing matchup.

The latest Clemson injury news could have major implications on the rematch with UNC

Plenty of UNC supporters have their minds on a potential rematch with Duke, but looking ahead could prove to be a major mistake. That's because while UNC is favored to post a win vs. the Tigers, things are a bit closer than people would have hoped for.

With tip-off for this matchup around the corner, North Carolina is a 1.5-point favorite to take down Clemson and move on to the ACC Tournament semifinals. That tells us that the Vegas oddsmakers indeed think this is going to be a close battle and it could go either way.

Carter Welling injury update: Clemson star not expected to play against UNC

Clemson is riding high from the victory over Wake Forest, but the Tigers are also dealing with an injury concern of their own. Standout playmaker Carter Welling went down with a knee injury and he was spotted on crutches after the win.

Welling is scheduled to undergo an MRI and the expectation is that he won't play against the Tar Heels - matter of fact, his status for the rest of the postseason is very much in the air at this point, which is a bummer for Clemson.

As for UNC, the Heels of course are without Caleb Wilson, as his thumb injury broke hearts all over Chapel Hill. Despite that, Seth Trimble, Henri Veesaar and others are ready to hit the ground running in the quarterfinals and push for one more shot (likely) against Duke. The Blue Devils are favored by nearly 20 points against Florida State.

Clemson and UNC faced off earlier this month at the Smith Center, with the Tar Heels surviving with a 67-63 victory. North Carolina was far from perfect in that game and in order for another W vs. Clemson to be posted, UNC must clean some things up. Soon enough, we'll see what happens, but this contest already has some fans a bit nervous. We don't blame them for that.
