Who will it be for Cal transfer sharpshooter Andrej Stojakovic? From the moment it was revealed he'd be entering the transfer portal, plenty of North Carolina basketball fans were calling for Hubert Davis and his staff to make a run at trying to land him.
The good news there is that UNC has been in contact and the interest has been reciprocated. However, Illinois has long been considered the favorite. While nothing is official just yet and UNC remains in the hunt, it looks like Stojakovic could be close to shutting things down.
On Sunday, he posted his official goodbye to the Golden Bears, thanking the fanbase for all of their support while he was on campus. Why would Stojakovic choose to do this now? We're hoping it's because he is getting closer to announcing where he'll be transferring to:

North Carolina fans are still hoping Andrej Stojakovic will pick the Tar Heels
The timing of this announcement sure is interesting. Several predictions have gone in for the Illini to sign Stojakovic, but again, nothing has been finalized there. The longer he waits to make his call, the more time Davis has to try and convince him that Chapel Hill is the right place for him to continue his college career.
In addition to UNC and Illinois, Jon Rothstein reported that Florida, Gonzaga, Washington, USC and Cincinnati are also in contact. It's easy to see why so many teams are after Stojakovic, as he's coming off a brilliant year with Cal. During the 2024-25 campaign, he posted 17.9 points per game, while adding 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
Davis has been busy this offseason signing talent from the transfer portal, bringing in Jaydon Young, Jarin Stevenson, Kyan Evans, Henri Veesaar and Jonathan Powell. Will Davis put a cherry on top by adding Stojakovic to the list? That's fully up in the air, but he's not going down without a fight.
