We all know that UNC football head coach Bill Belichick has a keen eye for talent, evident from his selection at the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft- where he drafted an underrated quarterback named Tom Brady, who just so happened to become the greatest football player in the history of the game.
According to 247Sports recently updated transfer portal rankings, Belichick is at it again. A slew of players Belichick and his staff have recruited this offseason have been skyrocketing up the transfer portal rankings- at an incredible rate, to say the least.
Washington cornerback transfer Thaddeus Dixon, who committed to North Carolina in mid-January, has moved from the No. 114 ranked player in the transfer portal all the way up to No. 49. While the 65-spot jump earns Dixon the crown of top-ranked transfer at North Carolina this offseason, we saw an even bigger jump from UCONN defensive lineman transfer Pryce Yates.
Yates jumped from the No. 235 overall transfer all the way to No. 81 in the 247Sports Tuesday update, rising a whopping 154 spots. Yates and Dixon are two of four North Carolina transfers this offseason ranked inside of the top 100, with Washington linebacker transfer Khmori House and Troy offensive lineman Daniel King rounding out the list.
House jumped 39 spots in the most recent rankings, moving from No. 105 to No. 66, while King fell from No. 47 to No. 51.
The Tar Heels still trail Florida State and Miami in the ACC transfer portal class rankings but have been moving up the ranks nationally. North Carolina’s class of transfer commits has moved from No.18 in the nation to No. 13, with a total of 18 commits.
