DeAndre Boykins has been part of the UNC football program for each of the past four years but is set to move on for the 2025 season.

The former four-star cornerback out of Concord, North Carolina, has decided to enter the transfer portal to finish out his college career elsewhere.

The 6-foot, 200-pound defensive back played three seasons with the Tar Heels. Boykins missed the 2023 season with a torn ACL, an injury that occurred in preseason camp. Boykins had his best season with the Tar Heels during his sophomore year. Boykins had 67 total tackles, including 48 solo tackles. He also had seven pass deflections, two sacks, and one interception. Barring a change of heart, Boykins finished his Tar Heels career with 78 total tackles and eight pass deflections.

Coming out of high school, DeAndre Boykins received offers from 24 schools, including Duke, North Carolina State, and South Carolina. His offers also included nine total ACC schools; therefore, it is a possibility we will see Boykins in 2025. Boykins is looking for a fresh start in 2025 and will try to return to his sophomore-year form. This could lead to Bill Belichick and North Carolina adding more secondary help through the transfer portal in a couple of weeks.
