The UNC football program just received a commitment from the Class of 2026.

Cooper McCutchan, a 247Sports Composite three-star recruit, is a 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end from Ohio high school football powerhouse Archbishop Moeller in Cincinnati. Moeller has won an Ohio record 9 Division 1 state championships, and the Crusaders have sent multiple players to the NFL, including current Cleveland Browns tight end Brenden Bates.

Last season, McCutchan pulled in 35 catches for 569 yards and seven touchdowns. With his size and hands, he'll be a perfect piece to develop in Bill Belichick's system, which demands tight ends who can catch and block. Freddie Kitchens, who also has ties to Ohio, will be his tight end coach and will put him in an excellent position to grow and show out for NFL scouts.

McCutchan is more Copenhaver than Nesbit, but he does have nice hands. The last place you'd want those hands is under your shoulders pads, because you'd probably end up five yards behind the line of scrimmage. Look at some of his summer camp footage at Ohio State:

North Carolina has lost a ton of production at the tight end spot. At the same time, the offense will likely go through a huge transformation with an emphasized run game and bigger, more punishing offensive line. Cooper McCutchan seems like a perfect fit for the new regime's plan.
