UNC football legend Lawrence Taylor reacts to the hiring of Bill Belichick

L.T. knows what Coach Belichick is all about from their two Super Bowl wins together in New York.

Sports journalist Gary Myers--the author of "Once A Giant," a book that reflects on the 1984 Super Bowl winning New York Giants--tweeted that he received a glowing recommendation of the Bill Belichick hire from none other than UNC and Giants legend Lawrence Taylor.

If anyone can vouch for Coach Belichick, it's Lawrence Taylor, a devastating force during his time in Chapel Hill, culminating in his 1980 Consensus All-American and ACC Player of the Year season. Taylor had a UNC football record 16 sacks that year, along with 22 tackles for loss en route to leading the program to an 11-1 season.

Taylor revolutionized the outside linebacker position in the NFL. He recorded 142 career sacks and 56 forced fumbles in 13 seasons, all with the New York Giants. It was there that he hooked up with then-defensive coordinator Bill Belichick, who led Bill Parcells's defense to two Super Bowl wins.

After a stumble with the Cleveland Browns, Bill Belichick won six more Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, cementing himself as perhaps the greatest coach in NFL history. But Lawrence Taylor was there when Belichick was getting it done exclusively on the defensive end, something that UNC desperately needs to be overhauled.

If L.T. says that UNC stock is going up, I'd buy in before it's too late. There's no bigger ball-knower than the Tar Heel/Giant legend.
