UNC Football: Kaimon Rucker named Bednarik Award Player of the Week
Defensive end Kaimon Rucker has been named the Bednarik Player of the Week by the Maxwell Football Club. The award is given weekly to honor one player's outstanding defensive performance.
Rucker was instrumental in the UNC football team's 41-14 road win against Virginia this past weekend. He put together one of the best games of his career.
The senior from Hartswell, Georgia, finished Saturday with eight total tackles (tied for career high), three sacks (career high), and 3.5 tackles for a loss. Rucker also added his first-career interception, picking off Virginia quarterback Anthony Colandrea early in the third quarter.
His performance is a great sign for the Tar Heels, as it looks like Rucker has returned to full health after missing four games this season due to a knee injury (torn meniscus) that required surgery.
Kaimon Rucker and the Tar Heels will look to keep it rolling this weekend in Tallahassee, where they will take on the 1-7 Florida State Seminoles.
