UNC Football gets two players on the ACC team of the week

With a beatdown as comprehensive as Saturday's win over Virginia, ACC recognition was bound to follow.

J.J. Jones and Kaimon Rucker were named to the ACC Team of the Week in recognition of their efforts in the UNC football program's victory over Virginia.

Jones had a career afternoon in Charlottesville. The senior wideout hauled in five catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns. His second capped an excellent second-quarter drive that gave Virginia just five seconds to try and score.

How did that drive end? The Cavaliers got one snap, and it ended with a Kaimon Rucker sack. Speaking of Kaimon Rucker sacks, your ACC defensive lineman of the week tallied three of them, plus an interception in a busy day for the Tar Heel. He had eight tackles to go along with those three sacks, plus another quarterback hurry.

The Butcher was an overall menace and ultimately forced Virginia quarterback Anthony Colandrea to the bench before he did anything that could disrupt his development. Graduate student Tony Muskett finished out the game.

Congratulations to these two Tar Heels for their superlative efforts in an eye-opening win at Virginia. If the North Carolina football program can keep winning games, we should see some more ACC recognition!
