UNC football commit Bryce Baker making an official visit elsewhere this weekend

With Mack Brown being let go and out of the picture at North Carolina, the UNC football program's recruiting process gets a little complicated.
The upcoming Class of 2025 UNC recruits envisioned playing for Brown. And so it makes sense for some North Carolina commits to revisit their recruitment.
Class of 2025, four-star quarterback Bryce Baker is among the list of North Carolina commits who want to think over their recruitment.
Steve Wiltfong — the On3 Vice President — reported that Baker will be visiting Penn State this weekend.
Baker is the No. 81 overall 2025 recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 8 quarterback in the class and the No. 3 player from the state of North Carolina.
Earlier this week, Baker’s father, Michael, stated their family will think things over and discuss Baker’s future. Hopefully for the Tar Heel faithful, that means continuing to enroll at North Carolina next August.
Baker is a talented player with high potential, and there’s a big need for him at North Carolina. Senior quarterback Jacolby Criswell is out of eligibility for the Tar Heels. Although Conner Harrell and Max Johnson are expected to return to Chapel Hill, there are plenty of question marks in the North Carolina quarterback room. Baker would add some needed depth and create more competition for the starting quarterback job.
Now that he’s reopened conversations with Penn State, there are certainly a handful of other schools who might come knocking for Baker. He announced his commitment to North Carolina all the way back on June 27, 2023. His other finalists at the time included Maryland, Boston College, Duke, Penn State, Virginia Tech, NC State and Wake Forest.
Hopefully, Baker is still Chapel Hill bound and remains part of the Carolina family. It’ll be the next North Carolina head coach’s job to prioritize Baker’s recruitment.
