A crazy week for Bill Belichick and the UNC football program continues as Alabama offensive lineman Miles McVay has committed to the program. The former four-star was the No. 16 offensive tackle in the 2023 recruiting class, according to 247sports, and will come to Chapel Hill with three years of remaining eligibility.
McVay and his agents announced that he would be entering the portal on December 8th, and Belichick and his coaching staff quickly persuaded him to come play in Chapel Hill. The commitment from the East St. Louis native came as soon as possible, as McVay had his official visit with North Carolina earlier today and announced his commitment just hours later.
McVay redshirted his freshman season with the Crimson Tide in 2023, appearing in just four games, before serving as a backup offensive tackle in 2024, where he appeared in all 12 regular-season games.
Whichever quarterback ends up under center for the Tar Heels for the 2025 season will certainly be protected- as this North Carolina offensive line has completely transformed in the past week.
McVay is now the second offensive lineman to commit to North Carolina through the transfer portal in the Belichick era, joining former Holy Cross OL Christo Kelly.
The rejuvenation of the front line is far from over. Former Georgia offensive tackle Chad Lindberg scheduled a visit with North Carolina earlier this week, and more players are set to visit this weekend.
