UNC basketball still in contact with 2 European prospects (and likely more)

Will either of these guys don a UNC jersey next season?

Who will be next to join the UNC basketball roster for the 2025-26 season? That's a question people continue to ask themselves, as there's still more work to be done for Hubert Davis and his staff. Two names to keep on monitoring are Ivan Kharchenkov and Luka Bogavac.

The team over at Inside Carolina confirmed during a new podcast that Davis and Co. have been in contact with the two, but there are obviously a ton of moving pieces with each due to them being international prospects. Will Davis be able to land either one of these guys in the near future? Hey, perhaps someone else will fly in from out of nowhere too:

UNC remains in contact with Ivan Kharchenkov and Luka Bogavac

“Those are the two we know they’ve been talking to. Frankly we know they’ve been talking to others, but those are the two that we feel really good about confirming and sharing,” Inside Carolina's Sherrell McMillan said. “That seems to be where the board stands.”

Interesting. Wing help continues to be the priority for the Heels. A lot of people were bashing UNC this week when Boogie Fland committed to Florida, but no, Davis didn't swing and miss there. People can assume what they want, but adding another guard is not the main focus.

Both Kharchenkov and Bogavic would be able to provide the kind of wing help this team desperately needs, while Bogavic, as McMillian noted, has the versatility to play at the 2-guard spot as well. Bogavic, a Montenegrin player for SC Derby, has a bit more experience too, as he's 22 years old.

However, Kharchenkov sure plays beyond his years for Bayern Munich in Germany - the 18-year-old stud has been impressive to watch of late. At this point, those two overseas playmakers are the prospects most fans have their eyes on, but McMillan sure left the door open for someone else to pop up. Maybe Jamir Watkins pulls out of the NBA Draft? That's up in the air, but the hope is that Davis will land a new commitment here soon before too much more time passes.
