UNC Basketball program stays put in the latest AP Top 25 poll

North Carolina took on American this week as their only game on the slate. The Tar Heels bounced back and defeated American 107-55. The UNC basketball program dropped 64 points in the second half vs American. Elliot Cadeau and Jalen Washington had team leading 18 points in the victory.
After this non-conference win at the Dean Smith Center, the UNC basketball program stayed in the No. 10 spot of the latest AP Top 25 rankings.
North Carolina is now 2-1 on the season, with their only loss coming from No.1-ranked Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. This will be the third week North Carolina has been in the top 10. The Tar Heels are one of two Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the AP Poll top 25 for the third week in a row. Duke comes in at No. 12 after losing to Kentucky, who earned a spot in the top 10 at No. 9 this week. Miami, Pittsburgh, and Clemson all received votes.
This week, the Tar Heels have one game Saturday night at Hawaii University. Hawaii has started the season 4-0 and is led by senior center Tanner Christensen. Christensen is averaging 17 points and 6.5 rebounds through 4 games.
After this game, the Tar Heels will play in the annual Maui Invitational. The Maui Invitational includes three top 5 AP Poll teams. UConn (No. 2), Auburn (No. 4), and Iowa State (No. 5) are among the teams in the very competitive field.
