UNC basketball legend and NBA phenom Vince Carter was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Sunday night.

Joining Carter in the Hall of Fame posthumously was Tar Heel legend (and uncle to current head coach Hubert Davis) Walter Davis, most famously of the Phoenix Suns. Carter and Davis are the 13th and 14th University of North Carolina players enshrined in Springfield, the second-highest total after Kansas.

Vince Carter was worshipped by the Carolina faithful for his breathtaking athleticism. He was on memorable teams alongside Antawn Jamison, and the two tore apart the ACC during his three years in Chapel Hil, winning back-to-back ACC Tournament championships before getting drafted by the Golden State Warriors (then traded immediately to the Toronto Raptors) in 1998.

Carter displayed an aerial dominance not seen since Michael Jordan. He could soar above the rim and hang in the air for some of the most hair-raising dunks you've ever seen. Here are some of his highlights from college:

When he got to the NBA, Vince Carter took his game to another level. Freed from the shadow of his more decorated teammate, Antawn Jamison, Carter came into his own and stood out as a leader and top producer for the Raptors. Popular in college, he became a worldwide phenomenon, known most commonly as "Half Man, Half Amazing." His popularity hit its zenith during the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest:

Absent from his 22-year NBA career is any championship rings. Carter was unfortunate not to lift the Larry O'Brien Trophy and the absence of any rings will be used as a cudgel against him in any arguments about the greatest players of all time. But anyone who watched Vince Carter play will never forget how he made you feel, how the human body was able to defeat gravity and make basketball feel like watching a movie. Vince Carter was an action hero. And now he is also a Hall of Famer.
