When you have a storied career such as that of Tyler Hansbrough, you pretty much rack up every accolade you can think of, including multiple Hall of Fame inductions.
Some come sooner than others, but eventually, all of them induct you into their Hall of Fame.
At this point, you already know all the accolades, so we'll save you the lengthy list. We will be glad to remind you though that he is the ACC's all-time leading scorer, 2008 National Player of the Year and most importantly, a 2009 National Champion.
In 2023, Hansbrough was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame. On Monday, he earned a nomination to another Hall of Fame, this time, in the Tar Heel State.

It is Hansbrough's first eligible year on the ballot for the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. He will be joined by a class of 11 members, including fellow Tar Heel Eddie Pope (Men's Soccer, 1992-1995).
Both UNC athletes become the 68th and 69th former North Carolina Tar Heels to be elected into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. While Hansbrough is the 20th representative of the UNC Men's basketball program, Pope is the second UNC men's soccer player to be inducted.
Hansbrough and Pope are joined by nine other members to complete the 11-member 2026 class:
- Chip Beck (Golf)
- Heather Bergsma (Speed Skating)
- Louis Breedan (Football)
- Leonard Hamilton (College Basketball Coach)
- Richard Huntley (Football)
- John Isner (Tennis)
- Norvell Lee (High School & College Basketball Coach)
- Kelvin Sampson (College Basketball Coach)
- Jerry Winterton (High School Wrestling Coach)
The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be on May 1st, 2026, and held in Greensboro, North Carolina.
