UNC's baseball program moves from No. 5 to No. 4 in the latest poll found on D1Baseball.

Through the first six matchups of the season, North Carolina holds a record of 12-0. During that span, the Tar Heels swept Texas Tech University, East Carolina University, and Coastal Carolina University. And defeated Kansas State University, VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University), and NC A&T University in single game outings.

Carolina's largest margin of victory came on February 28 in Game 1 against Stony Brook. The Tar Heels won in dominating fashion by a score of 16-2. Head coach Scott Forbes' team mustered 17 hits through nine innings. Junior Kane Kepley (scored three runs) and sophomore Gavin Gallaher (batted in three runs) collected three hits a piece.

Sophomore Jason Decaro started the game on the mound throwing 7 2/3 innings allowing four hits, one run, and one earned run — recording three strikeouts. Graduate student Tom Chmielewski and sophomore Boston Flannery relieved Decaro's appearance and gave up a combined one earned run.

North Carolina's upcoming schedule sees No. 24 Coastal Carolina for a single-game event on Tuesday, March 4 at 4:00 p.m. Following Tuesday, the Heels have College of Charleston University (single), Stanford University (three-game), UNC-Wilmington (single), and Louisville University (three-game).

Graduate student Hunter Stokely leads the team with four home runs. The Wilson, North Carolina native is batting .444. with an OPS of 1.287 after 45 at-bats.

North Carolina's roster does not have center fielder Vance Honeycutt anymore, but the talent up and down the batting lineup is consistent. And that's all you need in baseball. The pitching staff has shown to be dominant, and it feels like their going to continue to grow.

Coach Forbes is looking to take his team back to the College World Series and so far the pieces seem to be there.
