Did Wilson really have to do Henri Veesaar like that?

Is there a better way to celebrate a huge announcement in college basketball than with more Caleb Wilson content? I don't think so.

Wilson, the five-star prospect that has already captivated the minds of Tar Heel nation, was back at it over the weekend when he chose violence and decided to throw down a nasty dunk on 7-footer Henri Veesaar.

Nothing but respect for Veesaar for trying to make a challenge out of it after the incoming freshman stepped in the lane and prepared to take off. Obviously, the landing made all fans of college basketball hold their breath for a second, but it doesn't look like any harm was done.

We know that much of Wilson's effectiveness early in the season will come on the defensive end and in rim protection, where his length and feet can be a major asset. But this dunk here shows how explosive Wilson can be and the type of athletic profile he possesses. As the 2025-26 season goes on, one should expect Wilson to be offering up highlight reel dunks on the regular.

And what about the fans? The fans were going crazy.

Caleb Wilson is a projected lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft

It's no surprise that a 6-foot-10 athletic forward already has the eyes of NBA scouts. Early projections have Wilson being taken in the top 10 of next year's draft. ESPN.com released their 2026 NBA Mock Draft before the weekend, and it has Wilson landing at No. 8 to the Atlanta Hawks. Writer Jonathan Givony conceded that Wilson will need to work on his outside shooting to become a complete player, but the tools he possesses at 18 years old are undeniable.

"Wilson looks the part with an outstanding frame, length and developing two-way versatility that could be harnessed into a very intriguing package long term. He can push off the defensive glass and pass on the move," Givony said.
