UCF didn't hold back with Bill Belichick troll job right after taking down UNC

Laugh now UCF, but payback will be coming in 2027

When a team beats North Carolina this season, expect them to have some fun with it.

UCF was no exception. After the Knights dragged UNC up and down the field Saturday, their social media team decided to put a cherry on top of a 34-9 win.

It's OK to laugh, because crying would probably be the alternative at this point.

What could go wrong, has gone wrong

I don't think anyone could have expected it to be this bad through four games. Technically, North Carolina football is 2-2 heading into the bye week, but the wins are against FCS Richmond and a 1-3 Charlotte team. The efforts against P4 competition have been disappointing to say the least.

The Tar Heels look completely overmatched and, at times, poorly coached and underprepared. A roster of nearly 70 new players, constructed by long-time NFL executive Michael Lombardi, looks small, slow and not physically capable. There were a lot of resources spent on bringing in quarterback Gio Lopez from the transfer portal, but the marriage with Freddie Kitchens' offense is not working.

And no, I'm not even going to touch what happened on the sidelines this past weekend. Not the time or the place.

There are some wins on the schedule...maybe?

It's conference play for the rest of the way and the good news is that the Tar Heels will avoid Miami, FSU, Georgia Tech and Louisville, so that helps tremendously. UNC will open conference play on October 4th against Clemson, who is 1-3, but the Tigers will probably be looking at the Tar Heels as a chance to reset their disappointing season.

Then a trip to Cal on the 17th after another bye week. The Bears just lost to San Diego State 34-0, but beat a pretty decent Minnesota team. It's hard to say how UNC will handle a cross-country trip even with the extra time off.

The rest of the schedule is as follows:

  • Virginia (10/25)
  • at Syracuse (10/31)
  • Stanford (11/8)
  • at Wake Forest (11/15)
  • Duke (11/22)
  • at N.C. State (11/29)

There has to be a win or two in there somewhere, but UNC has to show that it can stay on the field with P4 competition, and it hasn't so far.

So expect more trolling and more laughs at the expense of Tar Heel football. You'll need some tough skin to get through these final two months.
