There are holes all over the UNC football program's roster, and one of the biggest ones is at edge linebacker, a role perfected by Kaimon Rucker. It looks like UNC is already at work addressing that need in the transfer portal, as redshirt freshman Derion Gullette from Texas is scheduled to visit Chapel Hill this weekend, according to his representatives at A&O Sports Agency.
Gullette did not play during his true freshman season in Austin, as he also missed his senior high school season through injury. This season, he only appeared in five games, totaling two tackles. SEC schools are in the mix for Gullette's services, as he has visited Mississippi State and plans to visit Ole Miss before making his way to Chapel Hill.
Schools are banking on Gullette's enormous potential. He was the No. 9 edge rusher in the nation as a prep, and a top 30 recruit in the state of Texas according to several recruiting publications. Remember, he's essentially been out of regular game competition for three years, but his junior season tape is pretty impressive. Let's see if he ends up being a fit with Bill Belichick and the new UNC regime.
